What Changes When a Data Center Moves to Liquid Cooling Piping
The pipework stops being a facilities afterthought. Interfaces, joint integrity and installation sequencing become part of the rack design.

In an air-cooled hall the pipework belongs to the building. In a liquid-cooled hall it belongs to the IT layout: every branch position, isolation point and connection type has to agree with the CDU vendor's drawing and the rack integrator's envelope before a single tube is cut.
That shift changes who needs to be in the review. The mechanical contractor alone cannot close the interface questions. Our engineering review starts with the P&ID, the coolant chemistry and the connection schedule, and returns a manufacturability proposal before anything is ordered.
Key Points
- Prefabricated, labelled spools reduce hot work and pressure testing inside a live white space.
- Coolant above live electronics leaves no casual tolerance for a weeping joint; joint method is specified, not assumed.
- A heat-number-traceable material record is part of the delivery, not an optional extra.
