EN 10204 3.1 MTC Explained: What the Certificate Covers
A mill test certificate describes the material it was issued for. It is not a certificate for the assembled loop - here is the distinction that matters in a purchase order.
%s
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate reports the chemical composition and mechanical values of a specific material batch, validated by the manufacturer's authorised inspection representative. It is a material traceability document.
It does not certify a fabricated manifold, a welded joint, a leak-test result or a complete cooling system. Those are covered by the inspection and test records issued for the assembly. Keeping the two document families separate avoids a common and costly specification error.
Key Points
- MTC 3.1 attaches to the material batch and its heat number.
- Assembly verification is a separate dimensional, pressure and leak-test record.
- Standards quoted for materials or fittings are not system-level approvals.
